簡單數學等式的英語表達

在英語學習中，一些簡單的數學等式，例如“2+3=5”，我們應該怎樣正確用英語表達這個數學等式呢？

等號“=”的英語表達

在數學等式里，“=”是必要存在的，不然就不能稱之為等式了。那么，在英語里我們可以用“is/are”、“equal”或“is/are equal to”來代表等號“=”。

加“＋”、減“－”、乘“×”、除“÷”的英語表達

• 加號“＋”可以用“and”、“plus”或“add(ed) to”來表達

例子：3＋1=4

英語表達：

① Three and one is four.

② Three plus one equals four.

③ Three added to one are four.

④ If we add three to one,we get four.

• 減號“－”可以用“minus”或“(take) from”來表達

例子：10－2=8

英語表達：

① Ten minus two is eight.

② Two taken from ten equals eight.

• 乘號“×”可以用“times”或“multiplied by”來表達

例子：8×7=56

英語表達：

① Eight times seven are fifty-six.

② Eight multiplied by seven is fifty-six.

• 除號“÷”可以用“divided by”來表達

例子：20÷5=4

英語表達：

Twenty divided by five are equal to four.

用“How much is”來提問數學算式

在英文里，“How much is”不僅可以用來表達“多少錢？”的意思，在算式提問中還可以用來表達“等于多少？”的意思。

例子：

① “7＋4=？”可表示為：“How much is seven plus four?”

② “12－6=？”可表示為“How much is twelve minus six?”

③ “3×2=？”可表示為“How much is three times two?”

④ “15÷5=?”可表示為“How much is fifteen divided by five?”
